Over the past 40 years, New Line has expanded to become a multi-media company with various profitable divisions, having created some of the most successful film franchises in history. Its most popular films include A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Mask, Austin Powers, Blade, Rush Hour, Elf and Wedding Crashers. The studio's The Lord of the Rings trilogy grossed nearly $3 billion at the worldwide box office, and over $3 billion in consumer spending in home entertainment and merchandising.
