New Perspectives Theatre Company first started making theatre in the East Midlands twenty five years ago; twenty five years of extraordinary artistic and organisational developments, through which the company has remained true to its founding passion for reaching new regional theatre audiences by touring the very best new theatre writing into arts, community and education spaces in the region’s towns and villages.

During that period the company produced early works by eminent playwrights including Noel Greig, Bryony Lavery, Claire Luckham, Nona Sheppherd, Nick Stafford, Charles Way, Amanda Whittington and Julie Wilkinson.

In recent years, in addition to its touring theatre programme, the company also acquired major interests in the on-going running of a studio theatre and arts centre in Mansfield (1996), participatory arts projects in Daventry & South Northants (1999) and Newark & Sherwood (2000), and a touring arts agency in Northamptonshire (2002), together with various other time-limited projects throughout the region.

By 2003/2004 the company had established itself as the largest single provider of touring arts to rural and community venues in the East Midlands, employing fifteen core staff across three sites and with an annual turnover in excess of £750k.
During 2004/2005 an energetic new Board and staff team sought to chart a course for the company that built on these firm foundations by injecting fresh artistic fire and new levels of professionalism into the company's already highly-regarded work. This has lead to a number of important strategic developments in the last twelve months including the transfer of management responsibilities for Newark & Sherwood Arts and The Old Library Arts Centre to Nottinghamshire County Council to enable New Perspectives to devote greater energy and more resources to its core touring theatre programme.

In March 2006 the company relocated to a new office/rehearsal base in Nottingham.
