Origin Pictures is an independent production company making bold and ambitious drama for both film and television. As well as working with established voices, we place a strong focus on nurturing emerging talent to bring powerful and distinctive stories to the screen.

The company was launched in 2008 by David Thompson, having run BBC Films for over a decade. The company retains close links with the BBC through its first look development deal with BBC Fiction for both film and television, and have deal with Fremantle Media Enterprises for television distribution. Producer and financier Anant Singh also backs the company through Distant Horizon, the international production and distribution company.
