PACE Theatre Company was formed in 1988 and is a registered charity and non-profit making company based in Paisley, Scotland.

PACE is compromised of four main components:- a professional theatre production and theatre-in-education company; PACE Youth Theatre - the largest youth theatre in the UK with over 2,000 members; PACE Casting - a casting agency which represents youth theatre members; and PACE Media Productions - a media production company specialising in educational and dramatic video productions.

PACE has grown to become one of the largest companies of its type in the UK and employs over 50 actors, drama workers, technical and administrative staff every year, including a full time staff of 18. PACE has worked with over 250,000 young people since its inception, including over 20,000 who have become members of PACE Youth Theatre. PACE runs over 1,750 youth theatre workshops every year and it's productions perform annually to audiences of over 200,000.

As a professional theatre company PACE is most well-known for producing Paisley's acclaimed annual pantomime. It has also performed many professional productions, such as Byrne's Slab Boys Trilogy; commisioned and written original work and created several spectacular large-scale performances, including Cradlesong, for Renfrew's 600 year anniversary.

TIE and peer education has been at the centre of PACE’s work since it’s inception in 1988. Our unique Participatory Performance Projects have toured thousands of schools, allowing primary school pupils to perform to their peers on issues such as bullying, drug awareness, healthy living and sectarianism. PACE have also been commissioned by clients such as Scotland Against Drugs, Drinkwise, Strathclyde Police and Fire Brigade, various local authorities and many others. Many of these projects have involved performances to school children of various ages by professional actors, along with participatory follow up workshops. The company has used theatre as a means of educating and training adults with commissioned plays for clients such as the NHS, STUC and the Scottish Government, at venues from the Borders to the Shetland Isles. The company is also known for providing the principal theatrical input to Strathclyde Police’s huge annual Choices for Life event, performing to over 50,000 P7 pupils every year through Scotland. PACE undertakes hundreds of community workshops each year in school, libraries and other venues, including drama workshops for those with disabilities.
