Shanty started on a beach. With our roots deeply embedded in the countryside, we tell the stories that make-up the fabric of a place, spring from its history and are wound up in its myths.

Tim Bell and Harry Long (the company's Artistic Directors) met working as actors on a touring production, and found they had a mutual desire to find inventive ways of putting on locally relevant theatre.
