Short Story Radio was founded by Ian Skillicorn in 2006. The aim of the website is to promote the short story form and short story writers, and to broadcast quality recordings of short stories via the website and podcast.
Our stories are listened to by tens of thousands of people a month, from all over the world.
Over the past six years, Short Story Radio has forged links with many literary organisations and writers. We have broadcast work by emerging writers from The Writers' Centre, Norwich and Mslexia magazine, as well as new works by bestselling authors Sue Gee, Sophie King and Sue Moorcroft, and television scriptwriters John Finch, Alan Coleman and Ruth Field.

Our stories have also been heard on many radio stations around the UK. We have also donated stories to Insight Radio, the radio station of the Royal National Institute of the Blind.

In June 2009 Short Story Radio was awarded funding by Arts Council England to record a series of short stories for the website and podcast. Short Story Radio gratefully acknowledges this support from Arts Council England, which has provided a rare career opportunity for over twenty writers and actors.
Short Story Radio founder and producer, Ian Skillicorn, is an audio producer and digital publisher. In 2010 he founded National Short Story Week in the UK. He is a sought after speaker at meetings of UK writing groups and has recently spoken at the Get Writing! conference at the University of Hertfordshire, the School Librarian Day of the School Library Association and the Historical Novel Society.

Short Story Radio plans to build on its success to reach an even wider audience and to produce more recordings of engaging, quality stories from a diverse range of published and previously unpublished writers.
