The Company
Threepenny Theatre was formed in October 2009 by Genevieve Raghu, Briony Rawle and James Keningale. The Patron of the company is Guardian theatre critic, Michael Billington (Guardian profile, Wikipedia).
Mission Statement
Our mission states the following:
•Interrogating our reverence for writers.
•Engaging with the source text without taking our eyes off the cultural crossings to be negotiated for performance in the 21st Century.
•Encouraging audiences to be inquisitive or explorative in their understanding of the performance space.
•Mining classic texts to identify enduring motifs as an inspiration for new writing.
•Creating quality theatre on a small budget, responding to the economic crisis threatening the Arts industry.
