WORK EXPERIENCE
I have been able to gain tangible experience through working on real-world projects in a team environment that allowed me to develop my people and communication skills. Also the media industry can be a very busy, hectic and stressful environment so by doing a number of these placements I have had to learn to be quick on my feet and maintain composure in highly demanding situations.
Rethink Media conference at Birmingham City University – Sound Technician
March 2015
• Worked alongside a high level team of industry professionals.
• Played an integral part in the success of this well-attended event.
• Responsible for setting up relevant sound by assigning radio and stick microphones to the speaking delegates Jason Bradbury (Channel Five’s Gadget Show presenter) and former Director of Google Frank Golding.
• Ensured each microphone was switched on at the right moment and set to an appropriate volume.
• Recorded all the audio from this presentation into a Tascam using an audio mixing desk.
Birmingham City University Studio Drama Workshop – Sound
December 2014
• Volunteered to help the acting school with their ‘TV Studio Drama’ productions.
• Early starts, long working days and a high level of commitment.
• Lead a small team of student volunteers and worked with a professional team.

• Helped source news items and create video interviews on location.
• As this is a premier business client I had a high level of personal presentation.
• While my teammates were working on other aspects of the project I had to carry out tasks that I wasn’t asked to do to ensure each production ran smoothly.
• This mainly consisted of editing the companies backlog of footage into useable videos for the website and on live locations I overlooked the health and safety of all the equipment and crew.

• Spent a week working with the Branding Editor to produce sound links, music clips, voiceovers and trailers.

• Contributed to in daily editorial meetings and learned how television news broadcasts are planned.
• Went out on numerous interview shoots, helping to log the captured content back in the office.
• Transcribed all the spoken words from the interviews and the logged each clip to ensure the best content were used for the programme.
• Assisted in generating story ideas and chase contacts for research information, working efficiently and to tight deadlines.

• Spent time working with both the news and music/scheduling teams.

• Carried out extensive work on the creation of a new music database for the company.
• Ensured all song tracks, artists and durations were logged correctly with no mistakes.
