    About me

My name is Joshua Daly, I’m a Filmmaker from London, let me tell you a little about myself. Film means everything to me. Whether it is watching, working on my own projects, working on professional productions, or absorbing some sort of film analysis; I can never get away from it and neither do I want to. I had a wonderful experience studying film at Winchester University, where I received a 2:1 for a degree in film production. I have been working for almost four years now, in a variety of different positions, for a variety of different companies. I have worked on countless shoots for media companies as a runner, and I’ve worked on promos and commercials as an assistant. I have also worked as a PA for BAFTA award winning producers, as well as a multi-award winning musical artists. I have also worked as a director and camera-op for two BBC Bitesize series.

I have written and directed shorts, as well as write, produce, direct and edited my first feature length project, 'Infirmus'. Since its finalization the film has garnered attention from multiple international festivals- winning Best Feature Film at ARFF Berlin, and Best Narrative Feature at The Phenicien International Film Festival in Lyon. I have also recently been awarded the Talented New Filmmaker award at the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema. I have written a second feature length film titled ‘Elijah’, which at some point I intend to direct. I am putting together an idea for a TV series as well as a third feature. I work hard, especially when it comes to film. I also love working with others and have a huge respect for the individual rolls throughout filmmaking. If the point of life is to connect with others, and film is the platform on which I have decided to do that, then a dismissal or contempt for someone else’s roll within that platform really would be quite a cruel and useless thing. Knowing this, I welcome the views, opinions and critiques of others while remaining confident in my own abilities.

Before starting university, I took a course in Final Cut 7 at the London Film Academe for which I received a certificate. During university I moved onto Final Cut X, and eventually found my comfort zone on Adobe Premier Pro, which I have used since in my professional life.

Software aside I know my way around camera equipment, having shot an entire feature film on a Sony A7s and a Canon 5D. I’ve also used an FS700 and an A7sii while shooting an educational series for the BBC, and have had a little practice with a RED epic while shooting promotional footage for The Rolling Stones.

I’m an extremely hard worker, a very fast learner, and I love my job!
