Highlights
-
I have an HND in Creative Industries and Television. I have had a great interest in the world of television, film and photography for a number of years, interested in each and every manner of production. I have some experience in filming and I am looking to build and gain more experience.
From 2011 – 2015; I have had experience in studying creative industries; I studied at City of Glasgow College where I obtained an HND in Creative Industries and Television Production, where I have learned and had experience in sound operations, and television production projects including: planning/research, production, post-production.
I have been involved in 20+ multi-camera studio productions involving all role functions. I have worked on six location CoGC productions all involving pre-production planning to post-production processes.
In various works at the college, I have had first-hand experience in a range of roles and responsibilities as a cameraman, floor manager, editor and the editorial works, director, production manager, lighting, sound dubbing, runner, prompter, focus puller.
At the beginning of March 2015, I was involved in a corporate production for Scotland Excel as a camera operator.
In July 2015 I was part of an independent production, with GMAC, as the script supervisor for the short film 'Goodbye Charlie'.
In April 2016 I took part in the London 48 Hour Sci-Fi Film Challenge, and was credited for the role of 1st AD for the short film 'The Search'.
In July 2018 I was part of a technical theatre programme set up by Just Festival and Edinburgh College, called Staged for Life, a summer programme which aims to train and teach the participants in all aspects of theatre work, specifically involving setting up a stage, how to handle the equipment, and how to operate sound and lighting kit.
As part of the programme we learned the skills of being a sound technician and sound operator, lighting technician and lighting operator, rigger, and general stage crew roles; and used these skills to then put on a show at the end of the programme to fully experience the process of how to create a show.
The show that we put on was a play by Mhari Quinn called 'The Politics of the White Stuff' where I specifically worked in the role of lighting technician.
In July and August 2019 I worked in the Edinburgh Fringe with the SpaceUK as a Venue Technician at Venue 53, Surgeons Hall. The role involved many different aspects of theatre and events building theatres in rooms of all sizes putting up truss and scaffolding, connecting cables, setting platforms to be used as stages, draping, taping, etc.; to technical rehearsals for various companies/performers and designing the lighting schemes and sorting out the sound levels and equipment; helping various performers set up on stage, set up backstage, focus lights and sort out cables in very little time; being an operator for some of the shows using a Jands lighting desk and oftentime a Macbook with QLab connected to the sound desk; generally tidying up the venue, keeping things organised, assisting with front of house and helping the public; also being part of the dismantling of the four theatres in Surgeons Hall at the end of the Fringe.
Working in the Fringe was an excellent experience in which I learned a great deal in the world of theatre, maintaining level-headed and problem solving in what could be a busy and hectic environment. -
I have done work as a freelance photographer from which I get a chance to use the various knowledge I've learned in my course at college and using what I’ve learned in the camera and from general short photography courses I have taken outside of college; building up a portfolio of work, maintaining and managing my work on and offline, handling finances and paperwork, maintaining relationships with clientele and possible clients.
