    About me

Mark is a film director, cinematographer, editor, colourist and photographer driven by his love for the natural world. Over the past 10 years he has travelled to around 50 countries to explore life as it naturally appears to be. His curiosity and love for life has inspired him to find ways to frame these insights to share a fresh perspective.

The early years of his career were spent developing his skills in the extreme sports industry. Clients such as Red Bull and many others, gave him the opportunity to frame the lives of the most extreme athletes on the planet. In 2011 his short film “Uncommon Ideals”, was screened at sxsw as one of the top action-sports shorts of the year. The film won multiple international awards and was runner up at the Vimeo awards for best action-sport short film in 2012.

In 2015, Mark independently completed his first feature film, “The Salt Trail” – a philosophical portrayal, of those who fearlessly choose to travel outside the comforts of modern society. “The Salt Trail”, was awarded for best film, best cinematography and viewers choice at many of the international surf film festivals for the following three years.

His most recent project, “Chasing the Present”, took an unconventional approach, pushing the boundaries of the documentary form, whilst framing an extremely important message. The spontaneous idea arose in 2016, that sent him and some filmmakers on a 6 month trip to see if the film could develop organically by immersing themselves in the present. Six months turned into three years, and “Chasing the Present” evolved into a deeply immersive feature film, exploring the root cause of mental suffering, the mystery of consciousness and the nature of the Self.

In addition to the projects featured on his site site, Mark works regularly as a freelance director, cinematographer and editor on a wide variety of television and banded content around the world. If you would like collaborate feel free to get in touch.
