I come from an artistic family so I naturally followed the same path, having gone into theatre design rather than fine art or music. Having said that, the two art forms influence me greatly as a person and as an designer/maker/worker. Although my degree focused on theatre design, I have 3 years of practical experience: carpentry/set building; set painting & dressing; get ins & get outs; working in the art department, in theatres and on location and have worked as an assistant. I am accustomed to a workshop environment and have a good knowledge of various tools and materials. I also understand the physical and mental demands of these industries and thoroughly enjoy being active. In addition to that, these various jobs have taught me how to efficiently communicate and liaise with people from various departments and companies.
Due to my diverse artistic background and training, I thoroughly enjoy working on diverse projects and the fact that I have a lot of experience with said projects, it shows that I am versatile and able to easily adapt to new environments and teams. I therefore would really like to get into the TV and Film industry as, apart from enjoying this type of entertainment as a viewer, I think I would be very well suited for a job in this industry due to my experience. I also really enjoy the creative and collaborative energy of these industries and the sense of community that comes with it.
