About me
I am a recent graduate student in journalism at Edinburgh Napier University with a fervent interest in TV broadcasting UK politics and current affairs, my recent work experience as a part of the STV team both in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and my experience as both a journalist and trainee journalist in many different countries around Europe.Throughout my journalism career and my experience as both a journalist and trainee journalist in many different countries (Italy, UK, Turkey, France and India) across two continents I have produced a wide range of content to inform audiences, reporting on news stories in the field and from office.
Throughout my studies at the University in Italy and my experience as a foreign student in France, England and Scotland, I have been able to attain what I hope to be an international and open-mind perspective. I recently carried out significant work experience in Scotland as a part of the Scottish Television team both in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Now as a freshly postgraduate in Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University, I believe I have gained invaluable experience across all media platforms. I learnt how to display sound editorial judgment, making decisions on matters of editorial sensitivity under pressure whilst working quickly and accurately to a rolling deadline responding to breaking news with the ability to tell complex stories in an engaging way using a variety of text, video and social media.
The course has built up a substantial knowledge of the world news agenda, and the media law regulations through our Media Law module
My work experience in Italy involved collaboration with a local periodical newspaper in Sicily where I covered immigration and its impact on our islands, current affairs and local politics. Working for several months in a newsroom has strengthened my writing skills and made me able to handle major breaking news stories quickly and to develop original news features. My training in TV production and storytelling in Istanbul with former Aljazeera journalists has sharpened my interest in the Middle East politics, along with the understanding of TV production and digital online content creation.
