About me
I am currently working full time as a runner at DNEG. I joined the company in March 2018 and quickly began training in paint & roto using DNEG’s in-house software. Before this I was a weekend runner at Framestore where I was also able to gain training and experience with roto using both Nuke and Silhouette. Since completing the training, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of shots from live shows and have proven myself to be able to work to a high standard and under tight deadlines.I have a strong passion towards 2D, specifically compositing and whenever possible I use the training facilities at DNEG to further expand my own knowledge and experience to make me a better artist.
Additionally in my spare time I do freelance roto work in order to keep pushing my skills. This has involved me liaising with the client to discuss their requirements, as well as being able to accurately bid on how long the shots will take. From here I’ve learnt to manage my time efficiently in order to deliver on time and within budget.
As a runner I’ve learnt to balance my time between running duties and training and have recently taken on the role of Admin Runner. This role puts me as the face of the facilities department and requires me to organise events, respond to questions or issues raised by members of staff, place orders, creating purchase orders and keeping track of all transactions made across a number of credit cards.
As well as having a passion for compositing and 2D art, I also enjoy being hands on and as a result, I’m a keen photographer who shoots both digital and film; this has really helped me to learn more about composition and lighting. I also enjoy physical manufacturing through 3D printing and have over the years taken up a droid building hobby which has led me to volunteer at a number of conventions around the world.
