About me
I am a textiles graduate from Chelsea College of Art. There I discovered my skills for problem solving, working with materials in both a traditional and experimental way, whilst developing a strong work ethic. Since graduating I have had a lot of experience in costume departments, specialising in finishing, embroidery and detailing. Experience on a costume drama set also taught me about dressing, on-set checking, fixing and working to a strict time schedule. I have since gained experience in soft props and large-scale fabric puppet making. I am very good at working with a designer in order to understand and try and achieve their vision. I also love to be part of a collective effort, working with designers, makers and actors to bring together a creative outcome. I am interested in all avenues of work behind the scenes, dressing and making in particular.Additional information:
I am currently based in Bristol but I have a car and I am willing to relocate for periods of work.
Theatre professional:
I studied in Textiles, graduating with a 1st class BA Honours degree from Chelsea College of Art. Since then I have worked in theatre, and television, both wardrobe assisting and on-set assisting.
My skills lie in fabric and material manipulation. I have applied the sculptural techniques from my textiles training to various jobs including soft props, puppetry, millinery, embroidery, painting and breaking down.
I find costume and props a very inspiring field to work in and love to problem solve in order to create visual and textural effects.
I am looking to build on my skills and experience and take on new creative challenges.
I have worked in the wardrobe department of Northern Stage for a number of jobs, most recently making a series of sculptural hats for 'The Tempest' directed by Phelim Mcdermott of improbable theatre.
Additional skills:
I also have experience of on-set checking and dressing for television, having worked for 'The Paradise', a costume drama filmed in the North East.
