    About me

In August 2018, I had two weeks work experience with Sacha Baron Cohen’s company Spelthorne, where I mainly helped research and develop a number of projects at various stages of pre-production. After that, Spelthorne have given me paid work multiple times, most notably as a junior researcher for their Channel 4 show ‘Let’s Talk about Sex’. They have also hired be to research shows which they have been developing to pitch to various broadcasters. I have helped them develop a range of shows from history documentaries to children’s shows, working directly with Matt Edmonds, the head of factual entertainment. Spelthorne also gave me runner experience on their shoot of ‘Scrabbled Eggs’, an episode of ‘Urban Myths’ they made for Sky Arts.

My MA degree gave me a year to hone my talents as a scriptwriter. I developed a scripted comedy series, writing 3 episodes of the 6-part series as well as a series bible selling the show. I received plenty of feedback over the year, which made me better at adapting and developing my ideas with others. I also gave a lot of feedback to my fellow students, which taught me how to give constructive notes and work collaboratively with others to help a project achieve its full potential.

My BA degree gave me a great amount of experience in working as part of a team to achieve a common goal. In my final year, I took on a lot of responsibility by producing four short films simultaneously. I was in charge of the logistics of shooting, preparing transport for actors, crew and equipment. I was in charge of legal contracts we made with our actors and our locations. I was also in charge of our fundraising campaign and budget for all four films. Taking on so much responsibility for not only my own final grade, but the final grade of my peers as well, I learnt to take on many jobs at once prioritise tasks to ensure everything was ready when it was needed. I learnt to create a shorthand with people I worked with often and to bond quickly and easily with temporary members of our team. I am comfortable filling any crew role that I may need to. I can work confidently on Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects. I work fast and efficiently, making me available to help if and when problems arise.

Over the two summers I was in Winchester, I worked at Movie Makers UK which runs a week-long film school for children. I worked as the cinematographer and editor. I organised and maintained filming equipment and was the head of a small technical team. However, the aspect of the job which I enjoyed most was working with the children. I really enjoyed teaching them how to use the equipment and how to behave on a film set. The director would incorporate the children’s ideas into the film and it was very rewarding to see the children live the stories they create through the magic of film. With Movie Makers UK, I have also filmed and edited many live productions.

    Additional Information

I have a particular interest in writing, directing and producing, but I am confident in all aspects of production from development to delivery.
