About me
I first took an interest in dance during my up bringing in Spain, in the small southern village of Puente de Mayorca in AndalucĂa. Here, at the age of 4, I began dancing Flamenco. At the age of 10, I returned to the U.K. where I further developed my interest in dance with Latin & Ballroom, American Line Dancing and Couple's Dancing, competing in these forms of dance at various championships such as The British Championships, The UK Championships, The European Championships and The World Dance Championships gaining many championship titles along the way....At this point in my life I had realised that dance was the correct path for myself and it was where all my future ambitions lay. Therefore, I attended a full time Musical Theatre, Professional Dancer and International Dance Teachers Association teacher training course for a period of 3 years.
Throughout my professional life I have developed a love for all dance styles and have taken training in various other styles such as Hip Hop, Street-Jazz, Bhangra, Lyrical, Contempoary and many more with some of the worlds leading instructors and choreographers.
I was given the opportunity to become the main teacher and choreographer at the Bolton Dance & Performing Arts College, in the hope of passing on my knowledge, performance and dance skills. I stayed with the college for a period of 2 years, I taught a varying amount of classes here from tiny-tots, teens, adults and full-time students. As any teacher will inform you teaching dance has its challenges, from tan-trums to glitter and feathers flying everywhere but this all becomes worthwhile when you can sit back and watch the progress being made by your students or enjoy watching one of your routines during a performance.
At the beginning of 2008 I was offered a position with Kids Gallery, I was based in Shanghai, P.R. China for 13 months working for one of Asia's largest and most prestigious companies. Kids' Gallery was founded in Hong Kong in 1996 as a unique concept in arts enrichment education for children. Today, Kids' Gallery operates throughout Asia in over 9 locations within China, Hong Kong, Korea and Thailand.
My particular studio, based in Pudong, Shanghai, employees approximately 15 staff, providing various art and creative tuition to over 600 students of varying age and ability. I was personally responsible for creating / developing curriculum, course coordinating and teaching Performing Arts with a 5 staff teaching team working for students from all age ranges and abilities for a variety of courses. My contributions stirred a significant amount of interest from new and existing pupils.
I was honoured when a position was offered to me at the famous Wang Qi Feng Ballet school. This was very interesting as it was completely chinese with no international students or teachers. It didnt take long for me to fit in and become an valued member of the teaching faculty.
I believe I have gained a wide range of experience from working within a number of high profile "entertainment" and "production" teams. During the 2003 - 2004 season, I worked in the Portuguese resort of Praia de Rocha, as a member of an entertainment team and principle male member of show team performing shows such as Copacabana, The Best of the Westend, Disneymania and various others. In 2005 I spent a season in the U.K. resort of Skegness as a Cast Member performing in shows such as Zodiac, One Big Night, Character Explosion and various others in Center Stage for Butlins. In addition I spent 2006 - 2007 as one of five "Band Members" of the UK's premier and official tribute to Take That (Fake That). During this period I have performed in front of audiences ranging from 200 to 10,000, as well as working with a vast amount of celebrities such as Jamelia, The Bodyrockers, Rachel Stevens, Little Britain and many more from the stage and popular TV Soaps (Eastenders,Coronation Street etc).
I am a keen performer, teacher and choreographer looking for the right job to allow me to progress further.
