Ancestral hook-up through Walkie Talkie time travel.

A space obsessed man is cleaning out his old family home so that he can rent it out, whilst cleaning he comes across an old walkie talkie. He thinks it doesn't work and casts it to the side after piling it up with other items of junk, he starts hearing some muffled dialogue coming from the walkie talkie and then starts speaking back to the female voice after conversing he discovers that its his grandma talking to him who he has never met as she died before he was born. The walkie talkie his grandma is talking to him on is the same walkie talkie that he currently has but in a different time period, a kind of parallel universe. His grandma then guides him to find the second walkie talkie, which is the pair to his, once he finds this other walkie talkie, his grandma tries to convinces him to come and visit her in her, despite his own self guided lust for travelling to the future. When the two walkie talkies are paired they act as a key to travelling through time
