A Jolly Good Fellow

2017, 15 minutes

A 1930's, black and white, screwball comedy/drama.

It's 1938 in Westchester County, NY, and Gerald is having an existential crisis. Working as a butler for the prominent Portersmith family has taken its toll on his dignity and sense of purpose, as has his loneliness. Teddy, the Portersmith’s eldest son has fallen for Gerald and offers him a complicated chance at love (or something like it). Gerald has to choose between a precarious, but more exciting life or his safe, but stagnant current existence. All this as a screwball romantic comedy plays out around him between the Portersmith family princess Dinah and the nosy NY Times reporter Nick who wants to slander the family name.
