The film portrays the feeling of alienation of the postmodern age. Norma, the protagonist, is a young woman that struggles to persuade her dream job, to build up relationships and to find her space in the city of London. As a Pig in a Cage on Antibiotics, Norma epitomize every member of society: the cage is the modern life and the antibiotics represent the ceaseless feeling of alienation.
