"A Song For Cleo" is a magical realist love story set in London on the day in 2006 when a whale got stranded in the Thames. Cleo, a terminally ill young actress, is marrying her longterm boyfriend in order to have one last celebration and to feel less isolated. On the morning of the wedding, a whale beaches in London's river. Cleo magically hears the whale's song, and she runs away from the wedding to find it, beginning an adventure across London. Through an extraordinary encounter, the whale gives her a way to communicate. Cleo goes back to her partner, having missed the wedding, tries to apologize--and when she opens her mouth to try to speak, whale song comes out.
