Helen's insistence on burying her mother's ashes

When Helen discovers her mother’s ashes in a biscuit tin at her brother’s house, she is overcome – especially since her mother has been dead for over a year. She resolves to bury them no matter what. Even if it is illegal. Even if it starts to rain. Even if her own daughter Issy – asleep in the car – wakes up, and comes to find her, knee-deep in dirt, crowbar in hand, determined to give a proper burial.
