Inspired by The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter, An Affable Devil is a short film about a first meeting and the horror that hides behind the ordinary. Marie returns to her wealthy employer’s home to discover David, an unknown family relation, relaxing in the living room. She herself is anything but relaxed, trapped between pressing chores and the obligation to make small talk. On David’s gentle insistence she relents, accepts coffee, and listens to him chatter. Becoming engrossed, she leans forward and in so doing glimpses something out of place. Confused, Marie stares, and sees that David has horrifying intentions
