“The film is built around Ana, a widow who harvests ingredients from the woods and fields near her home to create a magical balm. Each ingredient resonates with memories of her past. Ana lives alone. A widow, self-sufficient, strong, independent. She is magical yet corporeal, non-ephemeral. Ana is an alchemist; able to take each of the haptic elements of her sensual memory - the smell of the ferns, of damp soil, the sound of wind, bird song, streams- and turn memory and past into present by brewing an ointment from these ingredients.”
