A short about storytelling and self delusion
Call me Harry is a short about storytelling and self delusion. Harry is a storyteller. There is nothing that he loves more than to regale people with tales from his days in the theatre, however when he loses his wife his life falls into social and financial turmoil. Unable to afford a plane ticket to Australia to visit his daughter he starts to take out credit cards under the names of famous actors of the past in order to buy the friendship of strangers. Generally these tale of the theatre are not well received, however the one place where he is welcomed with open arms is the community centre where he goes to read to the elderly. He is a favourite of Mrs Holmes a particularly sparky resident of the centre. Harry's delusions escalate and he starts to pass himself off as film director Terrence Malick to gain preferential treatment at the theatre while all the time the credit card company is trying to track him down. When Mrs Holmes dies Harry is left enough money to visit his daughter, however by now the credit card company's net is closing in.
