A farmer searches a rare cuckoo on his land, following the advice of a mysterious couple whose intentions might be more suspicious than they seem.
Bill the farmer's life takes an unexpected turn when two strangers tell him one day of a rare Golden-Crested Swamp Cuckoo living on his land and which could bring him a great reward if he follows their advice. As the farmer gets increasingly obsessed with his search and spends all his time in the woods, the couple start taking more and more control of the house, until Bill's exasperated family leaves. The two strangers now triumphantly occupy the farm, but Bill's efforts might finally be rewarded...
