Daniel

2011, 6 minutes

The truth will set you free

The rich and elitist school Babylonia is on summer break, Tutor Archie has seen potential in one of his students, Daniel, and keeps him over the summer to work solo. No meat, no alcohol, no cigarettes and lots of meditation, not easy for a teenager. He already struggles socially as he is empathic and feels other people’s emotions. Although quiet he attracts people has three outcast friends, lads who work the grounds and are not part of the school system. Separately Chad feels ostracised after being important and popular all year and now abandoned by his family over the summer. But trying to entice Daniel with lavish gifts and indulgent behaviour causes him only aggressive rejection, which wound him to the core. In this confrontation something changes, Daniel’s world slips into an altered state and we begin to see the beauty and devastation that his new intuition brings. His perceptions are changing before he’s ready to handle them and now he’s made a deadly enemy. Daniel sees fire in the future, but doesn’t know how to stop it or if he even has control at all.
