Thomas has had a successful life as writer... but has he lived a life? Cooped up for 40 years he expresses life through his pen but never ventures out to the real world. Now, his long serving attendant has retired and replaced by Tonio - young, attractive, bright and innocent, he has never seen his reflection. Thomas soon becomes intoxicated by the boy's vivacity and beauty and can no longer write... In an attempt to free his mind and reconnect with this young world he ventures outside his four walls. But is the outside world everything he writes about in his stories? And what happens once the illusion of beauty is destroyed?
