Ed

Actor fighting his fears in the dressing room.

Just before going on stage for a performance, Ed is going through his usual routine of expelling his fears and becoming the character he wants to portray. A mystical and aggressive voice is heard, doubting Ed, he looks to the mirror to see not himself but another person in the mirror, mocking him. This character is part of Ed's subconscious, part of his doubt his lack of confidence. The character doubts Ed's ability to entertain the audience, citing their laughter as being aimed at Ed. The character tells Ed to give up, to go away and never try again, Ed refuses and tries to fight back but every time he is reminded that he is fighting with himself. He finally snaps hurling an object from his dressing room table into the mirror, smashing it. Even after the calm, Ed is sat on the floor, crying. He composes himself and readies himself to go on stage. As he goes to leave the voice speaks once again.
