Five Stages

2011, 30 minutes

Five stages follows one women dealing with the five stages of grief.

Dr Elisabeth Kübler-Ross pioneered methods in the support and counseling of personal trauma, grief and grieving. Her ideas, notably the five stages of grief model (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance), are also transferable to personal change and emotional upset resulting from factors other than death and dying such as work redundancy, enforced relocation, crime and punishment, disability and injury, relationship break-up, financial despair and bankruptcy, among other things. This film tenderly portrays one womans journey through these five stages, maneuvering through audience expectation as to what her grief may concern, lending her story a universal interpretability.
