Fragments

2017, 5 minutes

An exploration of a fracture narrative the life of a woman.

The story follows a 30 something woman’s diorama-making process in the kitchen along with point of view shots going into the miniature space exploring its domesticity. Through this search, the audience will be invited to observe objects such as an ashtray full of cigarettes, a piece of newspaper and a freshly baked cake in the kitchen. The visual and the soundscape of the intimate details of a husband-wife household slowly culminate the tension within the domestic space. Towards the end of the film, the real-sized kitchen, where the woman was in, is revealed as a part of the model of miniature. Instead of seeing the woman in the real-sized kitchen, we see a doll that resembles her lying on the diorama’s kitchen floor. This film explores the act of searching through fragmented narratives in the crime scene diorama.
