A mid thirties man in an existential crisis finds purpose when he resolves to figure out who killed his best friend

Billy is floating through his mid thirties. A father that barely gets to see his daughter, an hourly paid university lecturer to a bunch of first year students that never turn up and an estranged friend to Cassie who recently killed herself. When he's invited by her family to take a memento from her room he stumbles across a hard drive containing an unsettling film with her name in the credits. Billy begins to suspect that there may be a more sinister aspect to her death. With peer pressure from his geeky friend, his teenage daughter and a persuasive tinder date, he reluctantly begins to investigate. Before long he finds himself as a would-be detective, caught up in the world of seedy video production; going undercover as a sound recordist on a shoot in a nuclear bunker, schmoozing with executives at a hipster London production studio and being seduced by a notorious costume designing lothario. All the while getting increasingly out of his depth and his comfort zone and seemingly further from any kind of explanation as to what happened to Cassie.Just when he's about to give up, the pieces fall into place and Billy sets off to seek revenge, finally filled with a sense of purpose. But the climactic showdown leaves Billy wondering if he should've kept his big nose out.
