Hedda Gabler is trapped in a disastrous marriage with boring academic Jorgen Tesman. When she finds her old flame Ejlert Lovborg has become a successful writer and has taken as a mistress one of her despised former school acqiantances, Hedda becomes jealous and tries to destroy their happiness. Her actions cause Lovborg to die, and Hedda finds herself blackmailed by Judge Brack who wants to make her his mistress. Finding herself trapped in an impossible position, she shoots herself. Hedda Gabler is often referred to a "the female Hamlet". This is Matthew John's rendition of the classic Henrik Ibsen play, adapted for screen by Matthew John and acclaimed actress Dina Rosenmier.
