But it also illustrates a long history of conflict, never more apparent than today, as the growing dominance of the commercial world feeds the ever growing annual invasion of wealthy socialites, gentrifying the island in the name of progress. This is a fight for the very soul of the Island, with résistance emanating from its ancient beating heart.
