Imperial Blue is a darkly comic satire on European-African relations with an intriguing element of fantasy.
Hugo Winter, an international smuggler, travels to Uganda in search of a sacred herb called Bulu, which is said to bestow the power of prophecy. Guided and deceived by two Ugandan sisters with very different agendas, caught between African mysticism and conservative Christianity, Hugo soon finds himself in a web of illusion, romance and foul-play. Meanwhile, his growing addiction to the mysterious Bulu threatens both his sanity and his very life.
