Isaac and Abraham

2011, 40 minutes

Story of a G.P. assisting his own father's suicide

Doctor Isaac Symonds wakes early as he cannot sleep and takes himself to the beach to contemplate what he is about to do today. He cannot talk to his wife at the breakfast table because of what he is going through in his mind. He arrives early for work at his surgery and we see him throwing up in the bathroom. He puts on a professional veneer as he sees 5 male patients about their health and domestic problems. But all the time he is thinking about his terminally ill father, Abraham, who has turned 70 today. After work he visits his father to administer a lethal dose of morphine as he says: "I love you Dad - that's why I'm here". He is distraught at what he feels he has had to do and returns to the beach where he has arranged to meet his mother to break the news: "I'm sorry Mum"
