Kapitol

2011, 125 minutes

Feature film about the lives of a grouo of poeple living in the city

Originally commissioned as a film to music project, “Kapital” is an apocalyptic vision of modern day existence and a unique collaboration between director Greg Hall and critically renowned composer & musician Steve Martland. A mosaic narrative based on ancient fairytales re-imagined and interweaved in contemporary Manchester with Martlands music as a driving force, all of which was written before seeing the film, while being edited to his score. Created as the only film piece by the biennial Manchester International Festival, the World's first original commissioning festival, "Kapital" premiered in 2007 to sell out audiences alongside work by some of the Worlds most respected artists in their fields including Ennio Morricone, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Philippe Parreno and Damon Albarn.
