Fantasy is a system to make sense of the world, not to escape it.
'Kim' is about a girl called Jayne who finds it hard to deal with the sudden changes in her life. Once she was with Charlie, the first guy to change her cynicism over love but then that suddenly ends, leaving her heartbroken and during the same week her parents, after weeks of arguing, decide to get divorced. During the week where these two events happen Jayne is trying to write an assignment for her creative writing course but finds herself with writers block, though when she gets horribly dumped and finds out her parents are getting divorced she escapes into a story, and relives her experiences as Kim to console herself and to show herself that she could have done nothing to prevent these two events from happening.
