Period piece set in medieval rural England. Pastoral scenes, ritual and murder.

A man pursues two girls through the woods, the girls are frightened, panicked. The film cuts back to earlier that day. The man and his daughter lead a simple life in their small medieval village. Two adolescent girls spend a day collecting herbs and roots and reeds. They build an effigy. They carry out a ritualistic drowning and burning of the effigy. We discover that the ritual was the rehearsal for a murder; the murder of the man's young daughter. Cut to the man breathing heavily in the woods. He lets out a wail of anguish.
