2017, 10 minutes

A young girl mourning the loss of her mother fails to find the love she needs from her father. She finds comfort in her fathers friend through his realisation of her musical talent.

Set in 1974 Bridie Balon (14) and her father Hakan (47) arrive in Avanos after leaving England as her mother has sadly died. Meeting them at the airport is Hakan’s life long friend Mustafa (50). There is an obvious immediate relationship between Hakan and Mustafa but we begin to see something growing between Bridie and Mustafa. Once home and throughout most of the film Bridie is neglected by her father. Therefore she decides to do things round the flat to entertain herself. Listening to music on a cassette with headphones and drumming along, playing with toys, saying the few Turkish words she knows in completely the wrong context, dancing around in her room and having a bath and splashing around in the water making a rhythm. As Hakan is mourning he is therefore completely unaware of his daughters boredom. Mustafa is very much aware of Bridie’s boredom and the things she is doing, so much so that one night while Hakan is out, Mustafa comes to the house and tells Bridie that he has a surprise for her. As Bridie is sick and tired of being left in the house and now feels like she knows Mustafa more, she decides to go. As they leave on the back of Mustafa’s motorbike, a drunk Hakan stumbles up the road and sees them leave. He gets in his car and follows them. He stops when he sees the bike parked up outside of a cave, it’s lights shining in and he begins to hear drumming coming from inside the cave. Hakan runs in and sees that Mustafa has set up a drum kit for Bridie to play on.
