Clare and John used to date but it all fell apart for reasons which become apparent. Trying to stay friends, Clare wants John back. She'd rather have him in her life as a friend as opposed to not have him in her life at all. Besides, if they remain friends - she's hoping there's a good chance she will win back his affections...
