Netty Carlisle & Iron Hands is a 12 minute film about a girl who finds a map growing in her hair: a magical tale concerning the pursuit of fabulous treasure, and weaving.
When bold Netty Carlisle sees, in her own head-grown hair, the symbol for a church with a spire she gets to thinking, "This is the start of a map, I'll be bound." Now Netty knows that maps, with no regard to their beginnings, inevitably lead those rightly inclined towards fabulous treasure. Netty furthermore fancies that fabulous treaure would suit her very nicely, but the girl don't have time to wait for her map to be revealed through natural means! Instead she embarks upon a whistlestop tour of the village of Little Happens. Netty steals 'Medical Marvel' scalp liniment from the bowling green, buys a phial of hair grass tincture from the apothecary, barters with a gypsy for hare pie and heads to the Pot Belly Inn for a hair of the dog. She wakes next morning with a hangover and a dandylion's mane of hair, and she can't make head nor tail of her tangled map. She runs in a panic to Iron Hands, the reclusive weaver at the Road's End Cotton Mill. Hands agrees to weave her knotted hair into a map, but it will take several days. Who knows if Netty has the patience to wait that long for fabulous treasure?
