A story of luck, magic, rebellion and friendship.

Serena feels that ever since her parents' tragic deaths in a car accident she has had nothing but bad luck. However, a chance meeting with a strange guy in a park is set to change all that. The man (who calls himself Bracken) claims to be an elf- a magical creature that causes bad luck in human lives and acts as the hand of fate, balancing out the natural order in the world. Humans aren't supposed to be able to see elves, but Serena can for some reason- a fact that, together with their developing friendship, soon draws into question everything the elves and Bracken's father, Lord Firethorn, stand for.
