A Lonley elderly man living in a care home neglected by his family forms a bond with one of his care workers.

Nurse Chris reminds, Patrick's Son that he promised to visit, something he frequently does but fails to keep. Chris knocks on the door of elderly patient Patrick, anticipating that yet again his son is not going to visit he tries to convince Patrick to engage socially with the afternoon activities, but Patrick refuses because he is really looking forward to his sons visit and doesn’t want there to be any possible confusion. Despite Chris’ reassurance, Patrick stays in his room. Morning turns to afternoon, afternoon changes to night and still Patrick’s son has not come. Evening, Chris knocks on Patrick’s door once again and asks if he wants to play a game of chess. They play together and Patrick momentarily is distracted about his Son failing to visit him.
