Rona hates the nuclear power station that overshadows the rundown seaside town where she lives. Her mother is ill and she doesn't know how to cope so she buries herself in the world of astrophysics. When she finds a strange object on the beach she thinks she might have come across the 'God Particle' which could hold the power to improve her hope deprived town , and possibly help her mum. But best friend Sandi, a talkative nine year old with plans to run away to a safer place free from nuclear energy, wants to sell it to get money for her trip.
