Based on a true story from the 1960's, a northern English man sends out a message in a bottle with the hopes of finding love
A young man who is desperately seeking love decides to reach out across the waters. Bente is a 19-year-old, clever, beautiful, opinionated and adventurous girl who is bored with the continuous chores of life. Brian decides to send a message in a bottle out to sea while working on a boat. His bottle lands on the shores of Denmark, where Bente stumbles upon it. She opens it and decides to write back to him; they write continuously to each other until she suggests finally meeting the man behind the pages. He, however seems hesitant, which causes Bente to doubt their flourishing relationship when he fails to write back and tries to forget about him. Will distance be the force that keeps them apart, or will it be his secret?
