Rum is an anti-coming of age story about Archie, a lonely ten-year-old introvert trying to live in his own imagination. When his brother Richie, a burnt out twenty-one year old alcoholic, returns home in the hope of finding some respite from life, mixed feelings surface within the family. Father Peter refuses to accept his presence, mother Julie tries to welcome him, and Archie struggles to adjust to his unstable personality.
