Rust

2015, 20 minutes

On a barren farm in rural England, a headstrong young girl fights to keep her fading Grandfather as the giant he once was, and in doing so becomes a giant herself.

Hot-tempered Georgie lives with her grandfather, Henry, on an old farm in the countryside of Northern England. Since losing his livelihood, Henry has grown difficult and distant, his farm neglected and lonely. Georgie thinks her grandfather is giving up, when in reality he’s beginning to exhibit signs of dementia. In their struggle to stay afloat, they dismantle the life they once had: sell the farm for scrap, shoot the working dog that grew too old and useless for this world. With what feels like the final remnant of their old life now buried in the ground, it seems that Henry isn’t far off either. So as Georgie’s grandfather, this giant she once knew, begins to vanish, the determined young girl has to find the strength to carry on.
