Safiyah Flies Across the Ocean is a poetic tale of imagination, grief and growing up set against the backdrop of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution. Safiyah (8) is a British Egyptian girl who wants to know when her father will come home. As her mother Heba refuses to call or write to him, Safiyah decides to take things into her own hands: with the help of her neighbour Tommy (7) and his toy helicopter, she embarks on an adventure to find Egypt and fly the letter there herself.
