Sascha and Mum

1997, 60 minutes

improvisation

Gillian Wearing is an artist, and this film was an art form of a mother and daughter in some form of conflict. The daughter had no dialogue, only the mother. Gilian Wearing edited the film in such a way that the language was heard backwards, and the action became more frenzied. It was the Turner Prize winner 1997. A quote from 'The Times' newspaper Dec 3rd 97. "..Sasch & Mum was singled out by the Tate as particularly powerful and disturbing....". Sascha & Mum has been shown worldwide, and I believe is still being shown
